Watchmakers Recommendation
I am rather jaundiced when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying exactly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to spaced out grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of grandeur, function, construction, and style. Flagrant Value in Premium Watches
I have a join of luxury watches - a Girard Perregaux that I use for formal occasions and a Tag Heuer for everyday use. The steel corps on my Tag broke, and I used that as an excuse to finally upgrade. I considered a Rolex, Cartier (Roadster), Breitling, Omega, or another GP. After prowling around sumptuousness watch forums/reviews, I settled on the Omega SPS as having the best value for the dough. Rolex makes great watches, but they're so ubiquitous with so many fakes floating around that it doesn't feel "special". Cartier seems to be universally panned by luxury watch afficionados - apparently its mechanism is so sensitive that it must be sent in to Cartier for formula maintenance every 3-5 years at a cost of $700 a pop!! The Breitling models I liked have giant sizes...they looked incongrous on my 7" wrist. In the end, I settled on the Omega SPS - and I believe I made the dextral decision. I bought this attend to as a surprise gift for my wife for our anniversary. I ordered at about 6pm, and the watch was in my hands the next day at 11:00 a.m. Shipping was distinguished as the watch was packaged perfectly. It came in the original Chanel Box, with all the papers except for the Chanel Promise card. However, as a gray market watch, I knew that would not be included. The watch was brand new with the tractable film on the crystal and the back of the watch. Very, very nice. I put it in my safe for a few days and then gave it to my wife. She loved it, but unquestionable she would rather have a piece of jewelry instead. She doesn't share my love affair with fine timepieces. I boxed it back up and send it back to Amazon.
